How long after sickness bug?

Pre-school ages child had a sickness bug this weekend - vomiting overnight Friday into Saturday. No vomiting since Sat morning. Temp all day on Sat but back to normal by Sunday.

Each day since(so Sun, Mon and Tues) when they’ve gone to the toilet there’s been one very loose poo per day (no urgency or sore tummy etc, just very loose when they did go).

Playing and eating as normal since Sunday.

Is this normal to have lingering tummy issues afterward? Does this still count in the “48 hours since last episode” rules for sickenss etc with nurseries?

I go by a strict 48 hours after vomiting a d encourage more hand washing. Rules state 48 hours after diarrhoea too but one daughter had toddler diarrhoea and the other gets diarrhoea with respiratory infections!

@MarioLink Yeah I would never send him to nursery after vomiting unless he was 48 hours clear!! I’m very hot on handwashing etc and luckily managed to avoid anyone else in the house catching it.
I just feel like if he had actual diarrhoea then he’d be going frequently and with some urgency - but he’s literally going once a day, just when he usually does, it’s just very loose 🫠

My daughter has loose stools for various medical reasons and nursery and school have been ok with her attending if stools are loose but normal frequency.

@Superscientist Thank you! I’m hoping this will be the case. He’s definitely completely normal in terms of frequency. He’s like clockwork 😅

He’s due in the rest of the week and I’m completely stuck this week for any other childcare while I work 🫠

I wouldn’t even contemplate sending him if I thought something was still lingering but he’s absolutely fine other than how loose they are. Fingers crossed there’s a sudden improvement by tomorrow 🤞🏼

Normally 48 hours after diarrhoea and 24 hours after a temp.

@Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Thank you! I just don’t know if he would be classed as having diarrhoea I guess!!
