Baby won't settle in next to me crib

My baby is almost 5 weeks old. She's exclusively breastfeeding and stills feeding every 2.5 hours. We have a next to me crib attached to the bed for nights and a moses basket on a stand in the living room for daytime naps.

In the day, she will sleep for sometimes 3 hours in the moses basket. She sleeps soundly. But when it comes to night time and being put down in he next to me crib, she is grunting, squeaking, fidgiting and generally unsettled all night long. I've taken to getting up at her 1am feed and settling her in the moses basket after and just sleeping on the sofa next to her so I can get some sleep. Does anyone have any idea why she might prefer the moses basket and absolutely hate the crib? Or tips on how to settle her in the crib ... I swaddle her in a love to dream swaddle bag and have tried warming crib before I put her down. She is always asleep for at least 15 minutes before I put her down.

i would rather not replace the crib with the basket because she will grow out of the moses basket way sooner than the crib, and we don't have the space for a cot (we will transition to cosleeping once baby has out grown the crib/is less delicate)

Could you try changing the mattress? I find the cribs more enclosed and cosier for them, the next to mes can be very open in comparison.

Both of my girls were the same - although the older one never slept in the Moses basket either 🙈 Does the Moses basket detach from the stand? If so, you could put it inside the next to me while she's still so tiny.
Could you tag team it with your partner so perhaps he takes her / sleeps on the sofa next to the basket until her 1am feed while you get some sleep in bed and then swap? Or the other way round?

My daughter (3 weeks currently), is exactly the same. We’ve only used the next to me for 2 nights as a result. The Moses basket we planned to only use downstairs has been making the trip upstairs for bedtime and back down again in the morning ever since.

Agree with the suggestion that they’re too open and babies prefer feeling more enclosed.

Babies constantly change - so don't stress too much at this point about what happens when she grows out of the Moses basket. Do what gets you the most sleep right now (Moses basket), and then periodically try the next-to-me again every week or so.

i had the same issue my DS. The next to me crib was too spacious compared to the moses basket and I think that is what he didn’t like. I put him in a Love to Dream swaddle and that solved it.

We had the same issue. We did end up moving the moses basket for as long as we could and he was fine in that, we think the next to me was just too big for him. When he outgrew the moses he went in the next to me just fine

Ours hates it too. They slept in a Moses basket next to the bed (we ended up getting two, people give them away!), then straight into the main cot when they got too big. Swaddling helped too.

Mine slept in neither, ebf and in the bed with us, every night, only way we could get any sleep.

Second the suggestion of putting the moses into the next to me. Ours slept in the moses until 6 months - was nearly bursting out of it! Then straight into the cot.

Mine also slept better in the Moses basket initially, I think they just prefer a more enclosed space sometimes. We ended up buying a 2nd stand for it in the bedroom but could have also put it in the Next to Me. DD slept in it until 8-9 weeks as she had long limbs and started hitting the side of it. Luckily by then she was willing to sleep in the Next to Me.

Thanks for the advise. I put the moses basket in the next to me crib and got three 2.5hour sleeps out of her between 2030pm and 0530. I recon the most sleep I've had since birth!
