What to do instead of scrolling?

Hi all, I’m a mum to a 3 year old and I’m finding that I spend a lot of time just doom scrolling on my phone to pass the time. Particularly in those moments when my 3 year old is independently playing with their toys and I don’t have anything to do.

I spend lots of time engaging and playing with my 3 year old but I also like to encourage them to independent play.

Instead of always just doing housework/jobs in these moments of peace, what can I do apart from scroll on my phone? Things that I can do sitting down and relaxing. I really struggle to just sit and do nothing (unless it’s scrolling on my phone).

Baring in mind these moments of peace may only be 5 mins or so. 😂 I’m just conscious of how much my 3 year old sees me on my phone! Watching the tv is out of the question because they’ll always demand their own programmes on.

Thanks!

Read a book.
Read a magazine.
Write a shopping list.
Cut your nails.
Sit with your eyes closed and enjoy the peace.
Go to the toilet and doomscroll in peace without your child seeing you so you don't feel bad about it.
