What do you buy your kids for Easter? Growing up we only got Easter eggs, it wasn't a big day for us. But for my partner, it was quite big in terms of presents, clothes, toys, money etc. now we have a child of our own it's become a bit of a debate :)

Chocolate bunny

Meadowfinch · 20/04/2025 07:44

One chocolate Easter egg.

I've home-made some hot cross buns, and we're having roast lamb, roast potatoes and spring veg for supper, DS favourite meal.

Thatroomismine · 20/04/2025 07:44

When I was little my parents didn't have much money we didn't get an egg but got a new outfit (in hind sight it was something we needed for the summer). I get my dc an egg and something they need. This year they've got some tshirts as they've both grown since last summer.

Sofiewoo · 20/04/2025 07:46

A nice outfit, a basket with eggs, books, little things like stickers and a couple of toys each like a jellycat bunny and a little hatching chick for the baby.
The hunt is a few mini lindt bunnies, and then things like egg shaped chalk and stickers so it’s not all chocolate.

Frontroomroomjungle · 20/04/2025 07:46

An egg each, and some additional eggs for an egg hunt around the garden.

GreenSkyes · 20/04/2025 07:46

Chocolate eggs, then as we got older we got the offer of money (£5) or egg from parents.
We did get new clothes though, probably stemming from some way back family tradition where you had to look smart at church on Easter Sunday, rather than worn old clothes.

DC get an egg and a couple of small ones for a hunt, they don't get new clothes at Easter.

pearbottomjeans · 20/04/2025 07:49

This year we’re just doing a massive Easter egg hunt (small crème-egg sized eggs like from egg hunt packs). I’ve got the older ones a large Lindt bunny each and 3 year old a playmobil egg. I thought grandma would get them a big egg each but she hasn’t! Feel a bit bad but they’ll be getting lots of choc, just not that big wow egg.

As a kid I always got masses of eggs (well, felt like it) - one from parents, one from both sets of her grandparents and then one from any aunts and uncles we saw so maybe 5 eggs in total. Rarely did an egg hunt though. Never got Easter presents or baskets, just wasn’t a thing. But never did the Easter bunny either.

An egg.

It's Easter not Christmas Part 2.

RabbitsRock · 20/04/2025 08:03

We’ve ended up with quite a bit of chocolate this year but DD16 has had nail art stuff instead of an egg, although I’ve bought an 8 pack of creme/caramel eggs for the hunt she’s requested. Happy Easter everyone! 🐣🐇🐣🐇

sashh · 20/04/2025 08:32

Surely it depends on how you celebrate Easter?

And no one can outdo the Romanovs with their Fabergé Eggs.

Pe1ican · 20/04/2025 08:34

Eggs, a Lego set and a couple of crafting / colouring sets

Floranan · 20/04/2025 08:39

When little mine got a big egg each and maybe a few small hunt size ones .

they are adults now so still get a big egg each until this year when I decided they are now silly money so had a chat and they all said they would prefer a gift, so that what I’ve done, though I will confess I did still buy them a medium egg each so in hindsight probably cost me more 🙄.

the grandchildren, well I have more disposable money now so they each have a big egg, something nice for the summer to wear pretty dress or something, and this year 2 granddaughters needed new shoes which I often pay for to help their parents out, so I’ve sent money for all the parents to buy new summer shoes too. Gone a bit mad this year, but what the hell you only live once and at the moment I can afford it.

Jshrbt · 20/04/2025 08:42

This year I did an egg and a bowl and plate with their favourite character on together with mini eggs from the Easter bunny but normally I just do an Easter egg. I’ve not heard of toys and money for Easter to be honest

Longma · 20/04/2025 08:44

When I was small it was normally eggs thigh once we got a much bigger gift to share. I think it was just that Easter was happening around the same time as my parents wanting to buy us something so used Easter as an excuse. This was a massive one off though.

When dd was small she had grandparents, aunts and uncles all wanting to buy her chocolate eggs. So we rarely bought her chocolate - we’d get things like books or an outdoor toy, as it was the start of spring and going outside to play more.

HundredPercentUnsure · 20/04/2025 08:49

The smallest Cadbury egg and a malteasers bunny each. We're doing an egg hunt and have filled some tin eggs with salvaged and long forgotten bits from old party bags and a packet of chocolate buttons (from their Christmas selection packs that are still kicking around). The egg tins we use each year!

BrendaSmall · 20/04/2025 08:54

For the Grandchildren I bought each of them a complete new outfit each, a cuddly toy, and chocolate the 2 that is too young for chocolate has got a book each
my ground up children and their partners got chocolate

Bippityboppitybooo · 20/04/2025 08:56

1 medium sized egg each and an egg hunt - which they spend months making me re hide and hide again themselves. For this reason I've switched to plastic fillable ones!

Westun · 20/04/2025 08:56

As a child we got Easter eggs, I loved the ones that can with a mug or an egg cup. And we would get something new for church like a new cardigan or a new dress but rarely a whole new outfit.

With my own kids we just give an egg, and craft set or book.

AlmostCutMyHairToday · 20/04/2025 08:57

We're hiding exotic fruit as well as a few chocolate eggs for the hunt. Our DS is 3 and finds kumquats very exciting lol. We also decorated easter eggs yesterday - something I always did with my mum as a kid.

BooksAndHooks · 20/04/2025 08:59

When mine were younger they would get summer toys for the garden, especially as DS has a Christmas birthday so it was nice to have something nearer summer.

They would have a book, new craft / art supplies.

New outfit for Easter Day.

Meadowfinch · 20/04/2025 07:44

One chocolate Easter egg.

I've home-made some hot cross buns, and we're having roast lamb, roast potatoes and spring veg for supper, DS favourite meal.

We do the same meal but with enough eggs to give Dc an Easter hunt/trail in the garden. Sometimes a little plush bunny or chick each.

Eastereggs2025 · 20/04/2025 09:00

My daughter has an Easter egg off both grandparents and a few other little ones off nursery playgroup etc we've brought her a few spring clothes which she needed I'm certainly not going extreme haul like I've seen on Facebook.
