Starting pre-school

My 3 year old DD is starting preschool next week. The last visit she had to look around, she was so upset and wouldn’t go through the door.

Does anyone have any tips to make next week as smooth as possible? We are talking positively about her starting and she’s excited that she’s got new trainers to wear (😃) but I’m just apprehensive that it will go the same way as last time.

thank you

Aww it’s so hard not to worry. The teachers in my experience have been so good at calming them down. Ours will always ring us to let us know they’ve calmed down or send a picture of them upside down in a sandpit before you’ve got to the car ha. Try not to worry, soon enough she will love it!

thanks for replying. Thank you, I know she will love it once she’s started it’s just the initial barrier of getting her in the place 🙈

Yeah I get that. Mine has always been ok thankfully but friends have said that they’ve found it best to just leave them and go. As horrible as that sounds I think sometimes if you hang around too much it can make them more upset. I think teachers are very good with distraction and they don’t want others being distressed by an upset child so they will always try their best xx

Just to update, she absolutely loved it. She walked straight in and didn’t want to come home! Such a relief 😅
