Academic reference

Hi, was just wondering who people asked for a reference for UCAS? I am wanting to do radiography as a degree. But I am 27, and haven't done any academic studies lately. Would feel a bit dodgy asking my last employer too (left after 6 months on sick for PND/bereavement). I have applied for OU courses starting in september, thinking that will boost my recent study thingy, and also I could ask my tutor for an academic reference, but really I would much rather start a course at full time uni in september. I am just stumped really. Can anybody offer advice?

Don't want to be negative but when did you last study?

I think most universities expect you to have studied within the last 3 years

Do you have any friends who can provide a personal character ref?

does your University have somehting like CfaP, if yes, maybe you could do an Academic success course, which will get you ready to study and will refresh your skills, and stuff...they then can give you a UCAS reference....

Cfap? sorry I don't know what that is, bit of a pita having to have studied in the last 3 years. Suppose I will just have to wait until next year.

Centre for academic Practice....have a look your Universities website....if you have sseveral Universities nearby, then have a look at all of them, cause you don't have to do the course at the one you then want to do your degree at, iykwim

Think UCAS applications have closed this year, you would have to go through clearing.

I think I could apply till june, there were plenty of vacancies in clearing last year. Might cut it a bit fine for organising finance etc. thanks for that tip 3andnomore, I shall investigate.
