Why is my breast milk blue?

I asked my HV and she said it was to do with the water/fat composition and light refraction but I have been regularly pumping for 8 months and it has never been blue. I thought it may have been because we are unwell with a viral infection but I can’t find anything online to support that. Is this ok to bottle feed? Baby has been off feeds so I am having to pump to relieve engorgement/keep supply up. Thanks in advance!

It's absolutely fine to feed baby just give a gentle mix.
Your HV is right about the water content but also if you have been unwell then it's likely to be higher antibodies.
Every woman is different in how their breastmilk looks especially when exposed to illnesses. Mine also used to go blue tinge if fighting something. As everyone is different it's not really possible to find a stock answer as unless you test it won't be able to tell high antibodies etc.
