After School Care Glasgow West End

Hi there,

My son is due to start school this year in Broomhill, Glasgow and I'm only now realising that you're supposed to put your name on a waitlist years in advance for after school care. It's incredibly unlikely that we'll get a place now, but my husband and I both work full time. Assuming people deal with similar issues all the time but as this is my first experience with kids going to school (since myself!) I'm feeling quite overwhelmed and panicked. Any advice on what people do in this situation? I wouldn't even know how to go about finding a nanny or childminder and not sure how I feel about leaving my son with someone entirely new given school will already feel like a huge step. Any advice welcome!

I would ask for this to be moved to the Scotsnet topic area (or post again there) - more people likely to reply.

Is there one attached to the school? My child’s (not in W End, so may be different) school didn’t take bookings for afterschool care till May/June before school to ensure places were as finalised as possible.

In terms of the newness for him, my shy DC was ok, as there were others from her class in the same boat so it just worked in her head as part of ‘school’.
