brushing toddlers teeth

My DS is 20 months old and very occasionally lets me brush his teeth well. Most of the time is is mearly a swish if I am lucky. He likes to try to do it himself but just wiggles the brush around. Without actually holding him down and brushing them for him, causing a major dispute, I figure it is best not to make it into a drama. I put it down to teething/sensitive teeth at times and at other times use my electric brush which he thinks is funny. Should I be concerned? any handy hints for teeth brushing times?? I have tried doing mine at the same time, DH at the same time and distraction in front of the tv. Suggestions please.

Two recent threads on this here and ... well actually I can't find the other one any more, but the first one should give you lots of ideas.

OK looks like I am the right track then. I think I have tried most of these things - not the singing - will try something like that. Good to have reassurance.
