Hi all,

Just wanted to get people’s thoughts on these nappies. Normal or underlying allergy? I am EBF at the moment and removed milk from my diet from 2 weeks (he’s now 11 weeks!) and they haven’t changed however when we’ve tried formula (around 4 weeks ago) and the only thing that changed was he was constipated and a little more gassy but nappies got thicker and less mucus ?! I’m now wondering if poss soya but again no other symptoms but these nappies.

Sounds mad but my first had CMPA and had similar nappies but lots of different symptoms, reflux, projectile vomiting, rashes etc which my second doesn’t have! I can’t work out what’s happening here with my second and whether this is actually just normal for him.

Sometimes they have a vinegar smell, sometimes they just stink.

Just to note his nappies have been like this since birth and I have a strong letdown. I will also try and attached a pic of formula nappy.

(we ideally want to combo feed and I can’t pump as my letdown increases and he can’t keep up with it)

Thanks x

I combination fed and those look typical to me. I do not miss the projectile yellow poo stage...

My baby was ebf and most poos looked like this until we slowly started solids and they became more solid! They have a strong vinegar smell when he’s teething too.

My daughter had allergies and hers were pure liquid and shiny with mucus they sloshed in the nappy if she was in disposables, we mostly were in cloth which disguised her symptoms as they were bombproof

It's up to you about trialling removing soya without the family history I'd probably say it's not necessary but it's common for siblings to both have cmpa and not necessarily with the same symptoms. How much soya are you having is it just as an ingredient in the various foods or are you using soya dairy and meat replacements?

Sometimes symptoms can be not particularly obvious, with my daughter the paediatrician said it was unlikely but worth trying we had looked at most other causes of her unsettledness and she ended up with 20 food allergies!
