Kendamil stage 1 for 1 year old

My Mam recently and kindly bought a tin of Kendamil to keep at her house for my baby when he visits, he is almost 1 year old but she bought the stage 1 first infant milk.

Will it be ok? What are the differences/benefits of using the the stage 2/3 vs stage 1?

It would be a shame to tell her to throw it out. He would only use it probably twice per week as he is still being breastfed along with weaning xx

You can keep using stage 1 until you are ready to give up formula (usually as soon after 12 months as you can manage to wean them off it) so its fine. Stage 2 and 3 are mainly a marketing ploy.

Use it up then get him on cows milk. No point wasting it.

Stage one milk will be fine for him, stage 2/follow on milk was only created to get round advertising issues (companies are not allowed to advertise or promote first stage milk, but producing an almost identical product and marketing it as follows on milk gets their brand out there). Stage two formula has slightly more iron, but if he is eating solids, he shouldn't need that.

I think also just be careful as once it opens it only has 4 weeks! if it’s gone longer don’t panic; I’m sure it’s fine if it is kept extremely sterile. But if still loads left and past 4 weeks throw it out. Also also, if you need something to keep at nans house, Aptamil does tablets that are a god send and only 5 tablets (5 ounces) per sachet and have loads of shelf life for the unopened! They do stage 1 and 2
