Separated partners and childcare when children are Ill

Ex and I been split for 2 years. He has our son every other weekend and one night during the week. He pays through the CMS for this time.

my question is about when my son is ill. We’ve been lucky so far and my son has only been unwell the odd days here are there but I have used up my emergency childcare days at work to care for him.

today my son is unwell and due at dad’s tonight. I have taken the day off today but asked ex partner if he can stay home tomorrow with him which he has refused as he says he has important work meetings. I also have important work meetings tomorrow and have no childcare days left! Is there anything I can do? Obviously I can’t force ex to play his part and I’d actually rather my son be home with me but it puts me in a difficult situation at work.

If your son would normally be in his care tomorrow, then it’s up to him to take time off or arrange childcare.
So for example, if he’s at dads tonight and due back to you at 5pm tomorrow, it still falls within his contact time.
