Is anyone else miserable on their parenting journey or just me?

It feels like it’s just me who loves their children so bloody much but constantly seems to be snapping at them, spread too thin, they need me so much but I’m only one person and other essential things need doing too.

I feel like I’m doing an absolutely crap job to be honest and I’m worried when they’re older they’ll look back and just remember a moody irritable mother.

no, you’re not the only one. I think many people feel this way but are probably reluctant to talk about it in real life. Plenty have come on MN to express similar feelings.

What’s your situation OP? How old are your kids? What support do you have?

takeoneback · 27/03/2025 21:43

I don’t have any support which is why I’m finding it so unbearable I think. At least I hope so and it’s not that I’m a horrible person. They are four and coming up for two.

That is a really tricky age. Are you a single parent? Do you work? Do the children go to school/nursery? Ideally you need to find some time for yourself so you can be there for them the rest of the time!

Left job thinking it would be fine and dandy to parent well- so am a SAHP (no family nearby, DH works away a lot), and have decent childcare in place and STILL feel I am stretched thin!!
