Just wondering if anyone else's child has experienced same. My 5 yo dd had a temp Tuesday night of 39 gave her nurofen brought it down. All day yesterday and today she has been experiencing pains in her belly on and off. She did a poo yesterday so not sure if she's constipated. Has anyone had this with a virus? She's in a lot of pain

She probably has swollen glands in her tummy - it’s called mesenteric adenitis. Could be a virus - maybe tonsillitis - that’s a common cause. Have a look in her throat.

My almost 5yo DD had tonsillitis last month. Her first complaints was a sore tummy and a high temp. Doctor told me exactly what PP said, the glands in her tummy were swollen.

Appendicitis is quite unusual with younger children, but a possibility. If you press her belly is there pain? If she has a prolonged fever, I would bring her to the doctor.
