So do I need a solicitor to help me fill these out ? I’ve had a look and they look very confusing, it’s to add my partner to get pr for our son , we’re not married but are planning too anyway and have been together 10 years . is marridge needed before I fill out these forms ? Bio dad is on birth certificate but hasn’t seen child for 9 years and has a rap sheet longer than the Great Wall so could he anywhere now so no way to find him but I’m sure it could still be done ? Just need some advice please of how to do it

I had to do this more than 10 years ago, but unless it has changed, you need the bio dad's consent on the form as it needs to be completed by everyone with Parental Responsibility.

I think you need legal advice and would have to go to court to apply for consent, if you are unable to trace the father, but there are tracing agencies who could probably find him.

Also, when I did it, marriage/ civil partnership was certainly needed as it was Step-Parental Responsibility that we applied for.

Maybe report your thread and ask for it to be moved to Legal? Good luck.
