What are these spots?

Hello,

My baby boy is 4 months old and has had these since birth however they are getting more angry & obvious. I generally see them on his hands, feet, arms & legs not sure on torso (due to winter he's often been clothed). He'll probably have 2-3 at a time and after initial flare up, they die down within a day (possibly sooner) and just leave a small bump and fading smaller red mark.

Any ideas? I have a GP appointment booked for a couple of weeks but just curious.

Thanks!

Do you have pets?
They look a bit like bites

Richtea67 · 25/03/2025 14:19

Agree...they look just like flea bites.

KnickerlessParsons · 25/03/2025 14:21

I think flea bites usually appear in clusters, but they are almost definitely bites of some kind.

To me they look like hives. It’s also possible they could be bites. It would depend on where and how they appear which is most likely.

My youngest used to get hives due to cold exposure as a baby. If it was a cold windy day, he’d get a few on his forehead or on a hand. It was on and off for a few months and then never again.

Thanks so much for the replies.

Fleas! Yuck I really hope not! We do have two cats but no one else (me DH or toddler DS) has any 'bites'?! But maybe it's because we don't spend as much time on the floor.

Do you flea treat them regularly?

onlyliquoranointsyou · 26/11/2025 21:43

@70percentcocoa did this resolve? My almost 7 month old has these spots, the odd few here and there for months but suddenly loads more now

HerVagestyTheQueef · 27/11/2025 14:16

Could be molluscum.

70percentcocoa · 28/11/2025 17:20

Hi @onlyliquoranointsyou .

Yes they did resolve but only really recently and to be honest I just forgot about them so can't tell you when exactly. If they were flea bites then perhaps the colder weather/more layers have helped. Or it was molloscum or something which has resolved. Fingers crossed for you - they never seemed to irritate him so I wasn't overly worried.
