Anyone else have a tiny toddler?

DD is 2 in a couple of months, and very small.
She was born small, 5lb15 at 38 weeks which put her between the 2nd and 9th percentile and she has stayed there since. Always wearing clothes 1/2 sizes behind.
I don’t worry about her too much because everyone has reassured me that she’s following her curve, but I’ve just tried some 12-18 month clothes on her and they’re mahoosive!! Shes been in size 9-12 months for a while now it feels.

anyone else have/had 0.4/2nd/9th/25th centile children? How did they turn out?

Mine went from 50th to 9th. I’d say she is about 30-40th as an adult. She never had those growth spurts where we suddenly need to buy a raft of new things. She actually was in a youth GB team for a couple of years and her weight to size ratio was a huge advantage.

My eldest DD is now 3 years 8 months and is still very small for her age - she was born at 5lbs 3ozs (37 weeks + 5 days but placenta had failed and cord was round her neck when delivered). She has 6 monthly growth checks at the hospital to monitor her growth, they've advised they will check her hormone levels at the next one if her growth hasn't accelerated any more. She is slowly closing the gap but is still in 2-3 years clothing and, like your DC, has always been 1 or 2 sizes smaller. Her shoe size is also so small and her feet are incredibly narrow - it's a nightmare getting her shoes! I try and not worry as she's so happy and developing brilliantly in all other areas! She's just a dinky dot. I can't lie though, I'm nervous for when she starts school in September as I know she's going to be so tiny compared to her peers!! No words of advice OP but just wanted to share as I can relate 😊. Are your family small? I think my eldest takes after my side as we are all fairly 'small' and both my sister and I were very little babies!

I had a DD like this (although she was almost 8lb at birth). She was wearing 9-12 month clothes at age 2 and started school at 4.5 wearing age 2-3 clothes. She’s 14 now and is still tiny but not ridiculously so. She’s about 5ft 2”, wears age 12-13 clothes (or ladies size 4-6 short / petite). I reckon she might grow another inch or two if she’s lucky, so is likely to remain ‘petite’ size but not abnormally small.
There are small women on both sides of the family so I think it’s genetics.

My dd1 is 19 and dd2 18 and they're both still tiny.
My ds is 14 and still on the 2nd centile for height and weight ( but he does have a genetic disorder, which affects growth amongst other things)
I, too, am a shortarse at just 4'11"

DS2 was 8lb 2oz at birth, dropped to 2nd centile. I think that at 2 years old he was still in 9-12 months clothes.
He shot up in lockdown, aged 13.
He's 18 now and about 5ft9, so not huge but a normal size.

My eldest has just turned 10 and he's a dinky little thing. He was just over 8lb at birth, but has always been a size or two smaller in clothes. He just seems to grow slowly. His friends were here last weekend for his birthday and he was by far the smallest. He's perfectly healthy though and extremely bright. Apparently the males on my dad's side of the family are all tiny until they're about 14 and then they shoot up. So many factors at play!
