Yes its quite normal for babies to do this, it's a self-soothing thing.

HomeBodyClub · 17/03/2025 10:40

Yes. They’ll put everything into their mouth as soon as they are able to.

CocoPlum · 17/03/2025 10:40

Self soothing, discovered they can, teeth may be shifting in gums (although not necessarily going to cut soon) so it feels good. As long as your baby is gaining weight it is very unlikely to be a hunger cue any more.

My now 4.5 month old has been doing this since she turned 3 months! I was the same as you and worried it was a hunger cue - I don't remember my first baby being quite so enthusiastic about her hands 😅. Think it is just a phase though and now she's discovered them they're her new favourite toy!

Trust me they will literally put anything in their mouth. Apparently this could be linked to teething. I found Bickiepegs teething biscuits to be a good distraction that don't disrupt his diet.

Yes. Do you not know of babies that suck their thumbs or fingers?

That's rude. Not everyone knows everything.

Yes OP, completely normal. I'd buy a hand held 'teething toy' for your little one - gives the hands a rest

Handburgers as I like to call them

Give him a dummy or he could develop sores on his hands if he’s chomping on them all the time.

Colourfulltrees · 30/03/2025 02:29

I've tried but he pushes the dummy out. He sort of doing it on the sleeve of his arm
