Hi all, so my son is 2.5, I know a little old for a dummy still, but I feel now is the right time get him off his dummy, especially as we have a baby due in July so I want to get it out of the way.

He has holes in all of his dummies now from where he chews them and I refuse to buy anymore. He is very unhappy with them and isn’t taking any of them because of the holes and unable to suck on them properly, he calls his dummies “Mimi’s” - no idea why! but he keeps calling out asking for one. It’s going to be a long night! He took ages to go down for his nap today because of it. I do feel so guilty but is the way forward to just persevere, let him cry it out and to not give in and buy more?

would like to know people’s experiences on this, advice if you have any, what am I about to expect, what to do etc…

Thanks to anyone in advance!

All mine cried the first night and never again.

If you stop now it’ll be harder next time. You have made the decision, stick with it.

I weaned my 11 month old off her dummy by getting some Nuby Chewbies. I gave her those instead for a few nights, but they just fall out as soon as they’re asleep, after a few nights she just didn’t need one. Worked a treat.
