4.5 month old arching back and screaming at night

Hello,

My DD is almost 5 months old, and has been doing really well with sleep and development in general, but she has whole nights where she screams while crying, arches her back, and can only be consoled by being held and walked around.

She has had colic before but we thought it would pass by now, and she has been trying some soft foods (yogurt, and fruit puree) so I wondered if it was her stomach hurting from new foods.

The GP thinks she has reflux but told us it will get better the more she becomes used to solids.

DD is normally really happy and bubbly, normally sleeps through the night, I just want to know I'm not missing something.

Ah poor baby, and poor you! Sounds like classic reflux to me. She’s still quite little for solids - would you consider leaving them out for a bit and seeing if she settles? She might just need to be a bit bigger if she’s prone to reflux.

What made you start weaning so early at 4m? Maybe her guts and bowels aren't quite ready and she is arching with discomfort!

We were going off of her cues, and she seemed really interested in our food, she's sitting up almost completely unassisted and the dr said it would be ok to try. She really enjoys it, she even helps me hold things as I bring it to her mouth, I just don't want her to be in pain. She's alreast cut 2 teeth so I think we also took that as a sign she just does things a little early.
If it's bad again tonight I'll see about a day or two off of solids.
It's just exhausting, and I feel so bad for her.

Sounds like wind

Pop a large book under the legs of the head end on the cot- the slight tilt may help. 4.5m is quite early for weaning- this may be a factor as well.
Arched back is classic sign of reflux.
