DS is 8 and a half.
Every. Single. Day when I put the food on the table, I tell him to sit properly in his chair and eat over his plate. And he will, for about one minute. Then he sits back slightly, and ends up with food down his jumper or on the floor. Mostly both, actually.
I’m starting to get really frustrated by it. Which probably isn’t helping. But I‘m sick and tired of trying to get him to eat properly at the table. I‘ve demonstrated many times over the years how to lean forward over the plate. I‘ve explained that it’s important, so that if food falls off your fork it goes onto the plate and not on your jumper. I‘ve tried to keep it light and airy but over the past few weeks my frustration has been showing.
I‘ve adjusted his chair, that hasn’t made a difference. Our table is quite high and he slouches even more on our normal chairs. So he still has a Tripp Trapp style chair.
Has anyone got any tips? Do I have to resort to sticker charts??!
I have a 5 year old DD who eats with no problems, so I‘m not sure where I have gone wrong with DS.
