Cabin Friendly vs Umbrella Stroller?

Off on holiday in mid-late June for a fortnight and need to bring a buggy for our 18 month old (Will be 22 months old when we go) daughter with a buggy board for 3.5 year old son. We’ve got a Mountain Buggy which is brilliant but well over the hold limit and we are slightly nervous about it being bashed about in the hold. We’ve been abroad before but have used slings and they are not far too heavy for these (DS weighs 21kg and is in age 5-6 clothes) and we are flying to a hot country.

Is it worth us going for a pushchair that fits in the cabin or a cheaper umbrella fold? Must be compatible with the Lascal buggy board as son is on the Autistic spectrum and cannot cope with crowds/busy places and this is very much his safe space. Open to all ideas Mumsnetters :)

Yes imo

we also have the mountain buggy at home. But bought the stokke yoyo for travel. It’s been amazing. My almost 5 year old fit son still in emergencies. They sell own buggy board with seat which I think if clipped off will all fit as handluggage.

We always take on board as handluggage (even Ryanair), and it’s def good to have until last minute and straight away if your son hates crowds.
The yoyo has a much higher weight limit than most cabin prams, so I recommend getting that and getting a secondhand

Definitely worth it - we have the silver cross jet which can go in the overhead with you and it’s fantastic. Would recommend

Having travelled with both - go umbrella with a big hood if you think you need the shade and a general work horse rather than simply way of putting child on wheels.

the cabin friendly was great when we had a hire car with 5 people plus luggage. But the umbrella fold big hood, like flat, hang stuff off handles was the superior pram.
