Hello, i wonder if you could shed some light on a csa concern. I had made a application with the csa 9 days ago for my recently ex husband to start paying monthly towards his daughter, 2 days ago he texts me furious as he says he has had a letter from csa stating he owes 12,000 in arrears!! My claim was put in only a matter of days ago and surely there are no arrears as he has not started paying yet. it cannot be backdated payments either, now my ex husband cannot tell the truth and has lied continuosly to save his ass. I am due to call the Csa monday as i am very suspicous of what he is hiding. 12000 must be from somewhere else?

Ask him to screenshot this letter

unicornsarereal72 · 09/03/2025 14:59

Go on line and check your portal. It will have the detail there

Could he have another child and the details you have given have enabled them to track him down?

Any chance he’s read £120.00 as £12,000?

If he’s not going to send you a screenshot then I’d ignore.

Ha amazing how this suddenly 'insists' you close the claim immediately. Brilliant response, blocking tonight and dealing with him tomorrow

Yes..threatening me as me delving is going to make things worse for him..says its sorted. nope im on it 1st thing. there is no way they add 40% onto his wage for a fresh new claim.

It's not 40% they add, it's 20% if they have to take the money from source. But that only happens after a certain time period of not paying. Plus they don't retrospectively take any money, it's only from when the claim is opened

Sassybooklover · 09/03/2025 18:42

Either the CSA have made a typo, your ex hasn't read the letter properly or he's hiding another child/children that he's failed to pay for!! I can't imagine the CSA stating he"s £12,000 in arrears for no particular reason. It may be your claim has triggered, a pending case for another woman, that hadn't gone very far because she had no idea where he lived etc.

I've been doing some internet serving and they can do 40% of your wages if there is arrears to claim but my suspicion is this does not happen on a new claim ...its cannot be from my claim..he's not started paying yet!🫤

yes...he was off the grid for 3 years!! then suddenley i put my claim in with his details and bang they have him but he is insisting that the arrears are that much as they put 40% on and its from my claim and told me not to go meddling otherwise it would be more difficult for him to pay🙄 he thinks i have not cottoned on.He has to have another child.
