Hi mums - FTM here and just set up our second hand chicco next2me magic evo and one side height adjust seems to be faulty meaning the next to me mattress is 13cm lower than the top of my mattress. I get that it will be more awkward to put baby in/take baby out but is there an actual safety risk to my mattress being higher than the next2me that I cannot use it? Thank you 🙏

I would be concerned that if baby rolled or moved to the side where the mattress is the mesh part then wouldn't be breathable and could pose a suffocation risk. But are you able move it slightly away from the bed with the sides still up?

It's fine to use it like this with the sides up. It only needs to be level if you're using it as a cosleeper. I don't think it matters if it's next to your mattress - but check the instructions.

I suppose the risk to be aware of would be if you bring baby into bed for a feed and fall asleep, that they could potentially roll between the edge of the bed and the side of the cot - so it might be worth checking that.

The other risk is that your duvet could flap into it if you roll in your sleep. You could switch to a sleeping bag yourself? Or just move it away from the bed so there's a 30cm or so gap.

It’s fine if the sides are up. We ended up using ours as a normal crib and didn’t have it right next to the bed. I found it too annoying to get out of bed with it right next to the bed.

Same. We had two different ones for the first two kids as first was a rental. I didn't keep the second one either and third baby went straight into the big cot bed instead.
