Baby rolled twice and then stopped?

My 3.5 month old rolled belly to back 3 times last week, and since then has shown no interest again! Literally hasn’t attempted it once!

do babies pause skills for a while sometimes? Am I being unrealistic in my expectations?

Yes sometimes they discover they can do something but it's pretty much "right I can do that.... don't need to do it again for a while" in their little tiny baby brains 🙂

My baby has rolled twice from stomach to back but I think it was just an accident and she was toppled over by her big noggin. She's four months old.

My daughter learnt everything by doing it once or twice not doing it for ages and then doing it like a pro as soon as she started again. She rolled twice at Christmas and then not again until the end of Jan when she rolled continuously! She followed this pattern with everything else too!

Yeah, one of mine did that. He rolled a couple of times, but he didn't like it! Then he never did it again till he was 10 months old and could crawl.

Yep that happens all the time. Mine took a few unaided steps one day and then didn’t attempt it again for maybe 1-2 weeks afterwards. But then went from a few steps to walking across the room within a couple of days. I think they just do things when they feel like it!

Yeah! Our son at 4 months did it once. Literally once.
Then he didn't do it again until 9 or 10 months.
He could sit like a rock if you put him down sitting but if you laid him front or back he'd stay there.
Then once he was crawling he was off like a rocket, same started to walk reluctantly around 14 months and then now he's 2.5 he's like a rocket running around.
It's weird, even with 2 children they focus on different things at different ages, but it's all part of normal.
Take care!

With hindsight, it was ace actually - he was a really good sleeper because if you put him down on his back he'd stay there! And by 10 months when he could roll he had pretty good sleep habits so it didn't take long to discourage him from getting up if you put him down in his cot.

Totally normal! My oldest rolled once at 4 months then not again until after he was crawling (at a year - late mover!). He's nearly 4 now and developing perfectly normally.

My son rolled a few times around that age but it was difficult for him so he didn’t bother much. Around 6 months he really got the hang of it and was rolling constantly. I think it’s pretty normal.
