Small baby

My DS is 1, he was really tiny when he was born at 40 weeks (5lb) and has stayed tiny ever since. He’s been around the 1st centile all his life, getting up to about the 4th at one point. He’s so tiny he weighs around 18lb, wears 3-6 or 6-9 months clothes and size 3 nappies.

No one has ever been concerned at his size as he’s hit all his milestones, in fact he was crawling at 6 months. But I’m so worried he’s never going to have a growth spurt. He eats 3 meals and has 3 bottles, we try to put as much fat in his diet as possible eg adding milk, cheese, avocado etc.

DH and I aren’t small, I’m 5”8 and DH is 5”11. About average sized. DH was small when he was born but he had caught up by aged 6 months or so.

Has anyone else had a really small baby? Did they ever catch up and when? And did you ever find out why?
