Just need to vent- the building work started on our extension a year ago and we packed everything up in plastic boxes and kept them outside as there was no extra space in our house. Most of the stuff in the boxes was affected by rain or the sun, but either salvageable or not important.
But there was one box that had paperwork, sewing patterns and most importantly, our printed wedding and honeymoon album from 12 years ago. I’d kept it inside but when I was organising our hallway, I put it outside temporarily as I needed the space.
That was about 3 months ago and I’d completely forgotten about it.
I was on the phone today looking out of the window and noticed that the box was half filled with rainwater, opened it up and discovered that everything was completely waterlogged and ruined.
I’m obviously completely gutted about the albums but managed to take photos on my phone of each page, so I can redo them.
But I’m just wondering what the f**k is wrong with me?? How could I let this happen? I think having 3 children (6 and 2 year old twins) has done some permanent damage to my brain and capacity to cope with life in general. It’s as if I need someone to follow me around telling me what to do and what not to do. I feel like a child who needs guidance or a doddery forgetful elderly person.
It feels like I’m always in fight of flight mode, on edge because of the kids or someone’s ill, there’s always something to do. My son was off school for 13 days since Jan and I couldn’t cope with it as I couldn’t get anything done.
I’m so frustrated with myself! Why am I such an idiot?
