I got a question if anyone can help me, my baby is 4 weeks old and is breastfed via expressing and it doesn’t seem too fill her up for long she’ll have a 4/5 oz bottle and less than 2 hours later she’s hungry again, if I give her a bottle of formula will it effect her stomach I’m so scared but so desperate for sleep 😩 she was drinking formula in the hospital but since we come home it’s just been breast milk I don’t want too mess with her belly 😭

4/5 ounces is a big bottle for a baby of that age. Formula probably won’t help, she will probably only manage a similar amount anyway. Their tummies are tiny.

this is just how they’re designed unfortunately, at only 4 weeks it’s very normal to have two hourly wake ups. You can’t really fix it it’s just how they are. She may not even be particularly hungry just unsettled and need resettling.

Expressing and bottle feeding can be tiring, is there any reason you can’t feed directly from boob? Or can partner help out with feeds?

Also are you pace feeding bottles. She may be drinking too quickly giving her gas/wind. Well done for establishing your milk supply, be careful as if you give formula then you need to still express to protect your supply otherwise it will drop as your supply will match what it thinks baby is drinking.

Lots of good Facebook groups to support, try breastfeeding yummy mummies (awful name but good support on BF and expressing)
