Suggestions for high calorie weaning recipes please

Hello,

I am looking for some suggestions for high calorie content weaning recipes please. Ideally which could be made ahead and frozen, ready to defrost and serve.

They need to be mashable.

For context, baby is almost 10month, but he has disabilities and development delays and is unable to self feed, so we need food that is suitable for spoon feeding. He doesn't tolerate much food before he is done. He is still breastfed on demand, although I'm going back to work next week so this will lessen as he also refuses a bottle.

He hasn't gained any weight for some time now and has gradually dropped from the 50th to the 9th centile, so we need to try and fatten him up a bit, especially since he will be getting less milk when I am back to work.

We do have an appointment to see a pediatrician about this and other things, but not until the end of March.

Editing to add, if they can be high fibre too, even better as he also has bowel issues.

Thank you!

I would simply add a bit more butter to everything you make for him. High calorie and good for flavour so your son may eat more of it. Best of luck, OP.

Lots of butter, full fat milk, cream, yogurt, cheese etc
So you could do pureed/mashed veg in cheese sauce. Add in some tiny pasta shapes if he can manage those.
Cheesy mash potato with cream and butter. Add it to a shepherds pie filling and puree.

Porridge made with cream and nut butter stirred through
Mashed avocado
Greek yoghurt with or without fruit purée
Olive oil is an alternative to butter/cream for increasing calories
Mashed sweet potato with butter
Something like a lentil dahl, again with butter/cream/oil

Cauliflower cheese? In fact anything with cheese sauce!
Risotto or orzo in creamy sauce.
Guacamole.
Dal makhani.

No further tips on high calorie foods but just to let you know that I also had bottle refusers, and when they started nursery at around 10 months they simply bf more in the morning, evening and overnight. So probably didn’t get significantly less milk than when I was with them the whole day!
