Are these teeth looking like they’re going to cut through?

Would anyone be able to tell me if it looks like my 5.5 month old babies teeth are going to cut through the gum soon? I keep comparing to images on Google but I’ve lost the ability to be objective about it. My LO has been absolutely suffering for well over a month and things have ramped up to 11 in the last day or 2.

Be honest with me - are these ready to pop or are we suffering longer?

Oh poor little mite. Morphing into a shark is painful.

It's hard to tell from that photo. Mine got their first teeth at 6 months so it's entirely possible they are very close. Usually a day or so beforehand they get a little black line on the gum where the tooth is about to pop through.

I would agree with PP - it’s only close when you can see something along the top ridge of the gum

It’s hard to tell from that angle, but with my DD you could see a grey indentation on her gum just before a tooth popped through. Attached a pic if it helps.

Thank you - super helpful! I’ve not seen anything like that on his gums yet so looks like we’re still going to be in the trenches for a while. At least I have a better idea what I’m looking for now - thanks again!!

You’re welcome. It’s rough! My DD had teething symptoms from 5 months but didn’t get her first tooth until 6 days after her 1st birthday 🫠 Hope you don’t have to wait that long!
