How to bath baby 10 months

My DS is 10 months, he’s very active and always trying to climb out of things. It’s getting really difficult to contain him in his bath seat, so I’m thinking of putting him loose in the bath with a non-slip mat (obviously supervised at all times). Has anyone done this? Is there a safer way?

My baby has been sitting on the bath mat alone l since 6 months - never had any sort of seat for him (he’s 9months now) before that we used to just hold him with an arm under his neck for support

i just sit beside him and can easily catch him if he was to slip

he is able to crawl around in there now and standing so it’s a bit annoying trying to get him washed ! But I’m not worried about him getting hurt anymore he’s pretty sturdy and has a good splash around

That’s what I’m thinking, I think he’ll be safer without the seat. He was trying to climb out of the baby bath before he could sit up properly which is why I was using it but he’s more confident now. He’s really small so finds it easy to escape most things!

Yes. Just closely supervise and he’ll be fine!

I'm shocked a 10 month old even fits in a bath seat. Just bath him normally in the bath, hold his head with one hand.

We never had a bath seat, just went from a baby bath when tiny to the regular bath once they could sit up reliably. You just have to be right there to grab them if they start standing up or moving about too much!

Sit him in the sink?

Bringmeahigherlove · 21/02/2025 18:45

You can get bath seats where they sit in them rather than lie down, up to 12 months. Ours swivels around and her legs go through it so she can still splash about and play with her toys.

Yes that’s what I’m using but he can easily climb out of it.

He’s tiny, probably the size of a 5 month old baby.

I'm not sure bath seats were even a thing when my kids were that age.

He'll be fine.

Sorry! I clearly cannot multi task. Ignore me. I have no helpful suggestions haha.

I never used a bath seat or a non slip Matt! If you're there to supervise as you should be there is just no need.

I do think we need something, when he stands up in the bath his feet are sliding all over the place

If he can confidently move just a bath mat will be fine. He will love the freedom

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 21/02/2025 19:21

Just keep the water really shallow and you can always use a bath mat if needs be. Mine used to crawl about in the bath

tonyhawks23 · 21/02/2025 19:30

You just have a bath with him and make it fun, best thing for attachment.
