Bleeding nappy rash - please help

My DS 9 months has horrendous nappy rash, on his bottom and bits. It’s started to bleed. He is susceptible to nappy rash and I already have some timodine cream but it’s never bled before.

Im really pissed off because DH has been looking after him this week and leaving him in wet nappies all day, which I’m sure is the cause! Eg yesterday he left him napping in a nappy that had already got so wet it had leaked, when I told him to wake him and change it (he was napping at 3pm and I had put the nappy on at 8am!). He also claims to not be able to smell dirty nappies and gets defensive when I remind him they need changing every few hours.

Do I need to take him back to the gp or can I manage it with the cream I already have? We try and do nappy-free time although I’ve had quite a few accidents!

You need to tell your husband to sort his shit out!! That's neglect like fuck would I be leaving my child with him the lazy fuck

AntiHop · 21/02/2025 10:10

I'd go back to the gp.

Your husband's behaviour is appalling.

Worsthousebeststreet · 21/02/2025 10:17

Take your poor baby back to the GP.

Tell your pathetic Husband to set an alarm every three hours and change the nappy if he really can't smell it, but really that's a bullshit excuse.

Get as much bare bum time as possible to let the skin breathe. If you're worried about dribbles, try tiny pants and a sanitary towel.

When it gets this bad it’s also been because he’s teething so I’m looking out for that. I’m wfh but I’ll be coming downstairs every couple of hours from now on to make sure the nappy is changed!

Your useless husband should come with you and your poor child to the Gp and explain himself. Tbh I couldn't live with a man so cruel and lazy.

Sophie3003 · 21/02/2025 10:30

I used to do nappy free time on a baby towel I didn't mind washing as my eldest used to constantly poo and had a very sore bottom. I would be really concerned if my husband was neglecting my child like this though.

I’m hoping it’s because he just didn’t think as he generally isn’t like this but it has been a learning experience for sure.

Your name is very fitting. What person doesn't change their baby all day because they didn't think. You seem fine with it and are making excuses for his incompetence as a father. I think I'm more pissed off than You are to be honest.
