Should I change my babies formula?

Hey
Just wondering what everyone else would do as I’m a first time mum!
My baby is on Aptamil & breast milk
She is currently having wind/tummy problems
GP put it down to colic
She doesn’t cry! She strains A LOT, pulling her legs up to her stomach, going bright red & making loud straining noise. She seems very very uncomfortable. It is hard to get wind out of her & infacol helping only slightly
She is not constipated
Thinking to try a different formula or should I just wait a bit longer to see how she gets on? She is 3 weeks old

Thanks for the advice

Was thinking either to try the Comfort formula for colic & constipation.. or a totally different brand

What is her poo like?

Your description sound like Infant dyschezia which is a normal developmental stage when they learn to poo.

@Organisedwannabe Hey. I did read about this. Her poo is okay, she has a big poo around once a day and a few very tiny ones. Yellow/mustard and runny. With the amount of straining she does, I would have thought she would have more poo’s! 😅

Hey! GP advices to change to lactose free formula which made it 10x worse. She started pooing pebbles. We stuck to the same formula and she has stopped straining now at nearly 11 weeks. I believe it was just her getting use to her digestive system. She burps and farts lovely now lol x

Might be silent reflux in which case the anti reflux formula should help and also keeping her as upright as possible, a slight incline under her head in her cot (I put a pillow under the mattress) x

Honestly when she came home from hospital she was straining so so bad and she seemed in so much pain. A lot of research I did online and so many babies do the same thing in the beginning and they eventually grow out of it. Look up Infant Dyschezia x
