2 year old very dry scalp

My 2yo son had cradle cap (flaky) a while ago. that's gone now but his scalp is just very dry. I've tried massaging in coconut oil before baths but it doesn't seem to help. It just looks very dry! Anyone got some recommendations of what to try? We use Childs farm shampoo at the moment and bath every other day.

Under advice from the pharmacist we used a tiny bit of Nizoral shampoo, very sparingly. Initially every other hair wash and then decreasing to once a week, then once a fortnight, until it was totally gone. It was our nuclear option though, we’d used all the moisturisers/coconut oil/etc and she was losing bits of hair when the dry skin came away, so I was getting worried. I was nervous about using a medicated shampoo on a toddler but it succeeded when everything else had failed. Wouldn’t do it without speaking to the pharmacist though (that said I think you have to as it’s OTC).

Edit to add: mine was 3 when we did this.

We did what you're doing with olive oil before a bath and combing it through gently and got loads of the flakes off. Then just gentle shampoo as normal.

It's a form of eczema basically. He's 3.5 now and only gets it a tiny bit over winter now and it's not noticeable and doesn't need any treatment. I get terrible eczema on my scalp myself sadly.
