child leaving school alone age?

does your children's school allow them to leave school alone if they stay later for clubs/ groups? my son needs to attend some after school booster clubs but they don't allow him to leave alone at 4 and say an adult needs to collect even though he is year 6. is this normal for other schools?

P5 here which is year 6 in England. Many don't walk the whole way home and just walk to where parents are parked.

My daughter in year 6 is allowed to leave school alone. They are allowed to walk home alone although she actually walks to my school to meet me there.

yes allowed home alone from year 6 but not after school booster club which they want him to attend 2 times a week

Y5 and Y6 can leave school by themselves. For after school clubs Y6 only and not in winter when it is dark by 4pm.

not dark here didn't get dark till 5.30
