Bum worms!

I am at my wits end! The children keep getting bum worms. I give them the tablets, everyone in the family gets one, we wash all the bedding, pants, pyjamas, clothes, towels, flannels. I super clean the bathroom, hoover the bedrooms, anti bac the bed frames, bedside tables etc. This seems to clear things up but then 4-6weeks later the bum worms are back. I've looked up the lifecycle of these disgusting little things and it sounds as though the children are getting reinfected. Help, what do I need to do to get rid of these things properly? I am so sick of this. And I can't keep worming the children!

Absolute nightmare. Are you worming everyone two weeks apart?

Apart from all the washing, try to keep toothbrushes covered/out of the bathroom and be strict on hand washing when you get home and before eating anything as well as after the bathroom. Change pjs every day regardless.

Are you definitely taking the two doses?
When DD first had them the pharmacist told me for some stupid reason I didn't need to give the second dose. 6 weeks later she had them again. She's not had them again since after taking the two doses.
For them to be coming back in 4-6 weeks indicates to me that the eggs haven't been killed off.

I have sometimes found that two doses isn't enough, so do it again, ie four doses, each two weeks apart. That seems to work.

It’s all about the handwashing and keeping fingers out of mouths
apparently bum worms don’t like garlic, coconut, pineapple and various other foods so could be worth looking into that

Thank you for all the comments. I think the problem is that we've only been single dosing, on the advice of the pharmacists! Will start from scratch again, give a dose today and another in two weeks. @IglesiasPiggl I might do a third as well!

@curious79, that's interesting about the foods. The small ones love garlic and pineapple (not together!)

Fingers crossed this gets rid of the vile little things for good!
