Broken tooth 11 month old

Hi all and please be kind because I'm so upset for my DD although she doesn't seem to be troubled by it!

Her top left tooth just broke through; and I noticed this morning it seems to be brown and misshapen - and now that she's asleep I've just taken a photo and it looks like the lower front tooth has cut into the back of the new top tooth and broken it.

By coincidence I am going to the dentist tomorrow so I'll take her with me - there's no pain, no bleeding, but I think it will need to come out so it doesn't rot. So my question is, any dentists etc out there who can reassure me that all will be ok? Will the tooth have to be removed; does she have to undergo general anaesthetic etc? I am terrified at the ramifications/implications.

She's my first btw so I am trying very hard not to burst into tears!! But she's just woken up so is happy and smiling so it's clear it's not distressing her.

Thanks all for your time and happy Sunday x

I’m not a dentist, but it could be enamel hypoplasia - my son has this. His front teeth came through looking crusty and brown at the bottom and within a few days that came off and it looks like both his top and bottom front teeth are chipped. We took him to the dentist at 10m ish and they confirmed it was enamel hypoplasia. Doesn’t seem to be much they can do in infants as it’s effectively a birth defect but we’re hoping for the best for his adult teeth.

Thank you - it's so weird as this tooth only emerged on Friday and it seems to have happened since but no accidents or trauma - the other front tooth is fine so I'll see what the dentist says tomorrow.
