potty traing 23m

Hi, I have a 23m ds, And was hoping to start potty training this summer. in the evenings before a bath he will sit on his potty and most of the time have a pee. so i decide to bring it downstairs so that it more to hand but he just wants to play with it and not go.
i'm i doing it to soon does anyone have any advice thanks.

My Ds is the same age, and currently what we are doing is letting him be bare bot in the house with the potty around, and offer the toilet before bed and when getting up in the morning. He's doing pretty well with that, and nursery offer him the potty at each nappy change, or if he asks - but no pressure.

This seems to be working well, and he certainly has the idea now about what to do, but I'm certainly not going to push the subject until he can pull his trousers up and down on his own.

Try popping him on the potty after naps, he is more likely to wee then. Or put him on the potty when you go to the toilet, the sound of you weeing should trigger him to go if he needs to (or you can run a tap)

don't need to be able to pull trousers up/down to get used to potty, if he is already happy, keep going. not too soon if he is happy.

What I meant was that until he is able to pull his own trousers and pants down, the current arrangement works well - he can take himself to the potty and wee independantly, but if he had to wait for someone to take him it might all go a bit backwards.

We haven't had a wee on the floor for a couple of weeks now, and a couple of nights his nappy has been dry in the morning. I might get some pants this weekend and let him wear them for fun.
