Anyone else’s baby just cry and super miserable? He’s 2 months old and only happy when drinking milk or sleeping, when he’s awake he has to be glued to me 24/7 I can’t put him down or he cries till he’s purple and basically holds his breathe, I have another child to so I have to put him down. He hates the play Matt, bouncer, bath everything. I know it’s 4th trimester but I’m lying on the play Matt with him and still he just cries. I’m overwhelmed I just want to be able to put him down 😩 he’s on medication for reflux and we’re using colic drops still the same

Yes our second was like this. He’s 13 months now and chilled out a fair bit but still has his intense moments. I just don’t think he likes being a baby much! It’s been a tough year, not going to lie. Sending solidarity - they do grow out of it eventually! Our baby carrier saved me (still does to be honest)

My second DD is also like this, she's 13 weeks old and I am exhausted!! My poor three year old DD isn't getting a look in! My baby girl hates everything - she screams in the pram, the sling, the carrier, the car seat...! The only thing she enjoys is breastfeeding 🙈. She wants me to carry her round all day, I can't sit down and hold her or she starts whinging again. Ironically, despite all the fussiness, she loved baby classes! I think she just hates being a baby and wants to be off doing rather than sitting and watching! Praying it gets easier once she's more mobile as I am struggling at the moment. Sending solidarity!

I had a crier too so I absolutely sympathise. He's an adult now and is relaxed and utterly lovely.

Have they discovered what's causing the reflux?

Have they ruled out Tongue Tie and Cow's Milk Protein Allergy?

Thank you all, he's getting treated for a milk allergy, also has gaviscon and laxitives, my daughter was the same and I know it gets better but don't make it less hard. He just seems to cry and cry and can never put him down I think I just make miserable babies tbh 😂 he's 9 weeks old so holding on to hope that he will get better 🤞

My baby is 9 weeks on Thursday and I’m going though exactly the same thing. I can’t even put him down at night as he wakes up within 10 minutes with gas pains screaming. My first wasn’t like this so finding it really tough.

GP diagnosed an inguinal hernia which he believes is causing his discomfort so maybe it will improve when that’s repaired (I hope anyway!)

it’s so hard isn’t it, my 4 year old is really struggling with the constant crying too and it breaks my hard

TinyMouseTheatre · 04/02/2025 08:36

Can I ask which milk he's on?

And if he's still miserable with Gaviscon I'd ask for Omeprazole.

Mamaxo · 04/02/2025 11:24

@Greencroc I got a daughter who's 4 and autistic and she's struggling with the crying to she turned to him Sunday and told him to shut up and I can't blame her 😭😂 my little ones got a hernia to but they haven't mentioned anything about it
@TinyMouseTheatre he's on aptamil pepti 1 xx

My daughter was like this. She was being treated for sick reflux with low dose omperazole and a little gaviscon, the gp missed that she had severe silent reflux and needed high dose omperazole and as much gaviscon as I could get in her and later domperidone added. She also had multiple allergies and there was only 1 formula suitable for her and whilst breastfeeding I had to take out dozens of foods to identify the triggers. She is 4 now with 20 allergies!
What formula are you on? The initial formulas are still cows milk based it might be that they need an amino acid formula such as neocate or alfamino. Or if they are on an amino acid formula more robust reflux treatment

Superscientist · 04/02/2025 11:34

Sorry just seen he's on pepti? This still contains dairy, how long has he been on it?

That is just heartbreaking. Please plan some alone time for her and get dad to take the baby. That poor child needs you.

Mamaxo · 04/02/2025 12:16

@Notgivenuphope she's fine she laughs at him most the time when he's crying, I am planning a day just me and her. But saying it's heartbreaking is a over reaction she's fine

@Superscientist about 2 weeks, the diarrhoea has stopped and he does seem better on the pepti milk x

@Mamaxo if you are seeing improvements in 2 weeks it's worth waiting another 2-3 weeks and hope more things improve.
If you weren't seeing improvements in that time frame I would be pushing for a change.
Hopefully this is the beginning of the end for you!
