Toddler prefers adults ? Is this normal?

My 20 month old DS prefers adults over other children, I’m not sure if this is normal.

If we go to classes or playgroups,
he ignores the other toddlers, avoids them or stands at the side just watching and not taking part. Once or twice when another child has come over and tried to hold his hand etc he starts to cry. I have a few friends with similar aged children and he seems a lot more stand off ish with them than they are with him.

On the other hand he is completely different with adults, actively engaging them, waving, saying hello or other things to them, smiling etc. He seems so confident around adults but not around children. Not sure if I should be concerned. He does go to nursery 2 days a week, so is around other children regularly.

I think that’s totally normal. Most children don’t really play properly with other children until 2.5/3. I think most children would be a bit unsure of a strange child coming and grabbing their hand. Sounds all completely fine to me.

Mine was like this till he was around 2 when I got him into nursery 2 days a week then after a couple of months there he started playing with other children more, I wouldn't be too concerned about it :)
