How often are you supposed to change and wash wraps?

It's our first day of using real nappies and seems to going well so far. Obviously we put the used nappy in the nappy bin but what about the wrap? I've just been giving it a quick dry off and then re-using it. But how many times can I do this and how often do I wash them? They are a mixture of Tots Bots and Motherease.

I only washed my tots bots wraps after a days wee. If any poo near it, then i'd put it in the wash. Used to put same wrap back on again if it was bit damp from wee. God, that sounds so gross...!

Thanks WowOoo
I wondered if I was missing something. They seem fine if I dry them and re-use and someone told me not to wash them too often as it would stop them being properly waterproof.

We have a wrap a day, unless there's a terrible poo accident. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, otherwise you'd either be washing all the time or spend a fortune on wraps!

DS has four wraps, so we wash every three days and have a spare.

I started off with two a day/night airing them between changes, but now dd's at nursery she just wears one all day and a clean one at night. Exploding poo notwithstanding, obv.

Ditto others. One a day changed at bathtime. Unless comes into contact with poo. PIL change them each time, so after a day there aren't any left. (have 9 since ds1 was in them too to start with). Then can go a further 2 days without clean one. It starts being a bit smelly then.

2/day - 1 in theday and 1 at night. Clean one if poo goes on it. tots wrap in the day, fleece at night

Ditto - I have 1 wrap per day, unless there's a poo accident. I survive on 2 wraps. I handwash them (supposed to make them last longer) & shove them out on the line to dry overnight.

DS wears a wool wrap for bedtime.

to say that we use disposables at night. DS just used to wake up sopping wet in the morning, and quite often wake in the night needing a change too.

might give cloth another go now he's a bit older, and not wetting so much at night.
