My son (turning 4 in April) has been on CosmoCol for constipation since October, initially daily but now every 2-3 days when needed. As a result he no longer lets us know that he needs to use the toilet, so soiled nappies are an almost daily, even though he consistently urinates in the toilet.
I'm honestly at my wits end and worrying about him starting school in September. We have tried everything, rewards for when he does let us know, sitting him on the toilet after mealtimes and after giving him the medicine, constant positive encouragement, even YouTube videos. He is fully aware that he needs to use the toilet, but always resorts to crouching instead, by when it's too late when we sit him on the toilet. Our GP and HV have been utterly useless and dismissive, saying there's nothing to be concerned about, which IMO couldn't be further from the truth. We're desperate for help - how do we get our son to return to defaulting to the toilet, rather than spiking his underwear?
