Bed time battle

Advice please!
My 18 month old has always gone to sleep pretty easily by himself (with a dummy). But for the last month or so he’s causing chaos at bed time! Singing, shouting, throwing his bear around or thrashing up and down in his cot. All of those things are fine as he’s not upset but he’s started to throw his dummy across the room and then gets himself really upset. When we go in to give him the dummy back, he starts giggling and then it becomes a game. He wakes around 7:30am, naps for 2 hour at lunch and then we aim for 7:30pm-8pm bed time. But it’s often gone 9pm by the time he’s actually asleep……. Any tips or advice as my only opportunity to relax in the evening is becoming non-existent!

Just commenting to say mine is only 10mo but I feel your pain - an hour to get to bed at the moment by the time he has messed around, peeked over the side of his cot 20 times, posted his dummy through the bars then cried for it back another 10 times, chatted to himself etc. I left him, and sat at the top of the stairs, peeking in on him every so often, and the little blighter darling caught me looking and started laughing and dancing again 🤦‍♀️

Cap the nap!

Put a second dummy in the cot, then if both get thrown just don’t go in to give them back. Don’t play the game.

What would you cap it to? 1 hour?

Dummy clip, one with a short lead bit that he can't strangle himself with. That's what I did when mine used to do exactly the same thing. It's just finding one they can't rip off that's the problem 😅
