ds1 will be 3yo next week

is generally pretty lazy laid back about developmental milestones, and so am i

(he didn't speak at all at 2.6yo for example)

he's done several wees (and a poo) on the toilet but we haven't really gone for it wt taking the nappy off for any great period of time

we just had a go. he forgot, did a wee, and then asked for his nappy back on

what do you think? go with his flow (so to speak) or ditch the nappies?

Sorry, I've nothing constructive to say but I'll watch this thread with interest - my DS is a similar age and, like you, I take a very laid back approach to these milestones. I feel that with DS he is physically ready but still very apprehensive about giving up his 'little' status and trying the new concept of pants, so I've just been leaving him, with regular sits on the loo so it's familiar to him, to do it for himself when he feels ready.

However, DH looks after DS Wed-Fri while I'm at work and yesterday succeeded in making him do a wee in the potty (1st time ever!). It was with a very robust daddy approach of no trousers or nappy and them both being in the garden (going back into the house not allowed) until DS was so desperate that he had to use the potty. When I came in DS wee-d all over the floor, I suspect because he knows I'll mop it up and he doesn't have to be bothered with the loo/potty, so this all may take a while! DH having another go today.

Sorry, that's not helpful at all, I'm sure someone else will be along soon!

Take off the pressure, and try again in a couple of months. Or you could decided that a few wet months is fine with the better weather.

Both of my boys were nearer 3 and a half by the time they were reliable, like you I tried when they were about 3 and both were just Not Ready
