My 2.5-year-old ate a pebble today

I didn't see it.

The drive is all gravelled for drainage.

She and DD1 like to play in the gravel with their spades and buckets.

I was sweeping the patio and when I looked up, she was chewing on something.

I tried to make her spit it out, but she swallowed.

DD1 told me, 'She ate a wee pebble.'

Do you think it will just pass through her no bother?

She seemed fine tonight, but I'm a bit concerned.

She'll pass it probably. Might make her wince though! I bet it was only tiny.

Will pass through, expat, no need to worry.

(If it was an elastic band I would be forced to tell you about the 'lollipop' of poo DS1 produced when he ate one. Phew)

She's always up to something, but she's a wee star.

Had to put chicken wire over the pond, which I had thought inaccessible.

Keep her in her buggy because she runs away and finds it funny.

She did cry a bit tonight, but she's also cutting her last molar.

he would like to report that he has eaten pebbles

expat....my DS2 ate a decorative glass pebble last thurday....

we went to A&E with him as he has a bowel condition and also he was complaining of hurting, and they xrayed him......que the shot of said pebble resting in his belly.

we were recommended upping his senna meds for a few days to ensure speedy passage, and go on a 'poo watch'......

today I have been in a panic as he stopped pooing completely, and after a short thread, decided it was to be docs or paeds in the morning!

I sent him outside to play after school and drama tonight to get him moving properly, and he started to poo himself outside....got him in, and THUNK....pebbble shot out followed by much poo...I reckon the pebble 'corked' him.

we now have a decorative glass pebble decorating the bottom of the loo bowl!!!!

so.....eaten to passing has taken 5 days.

I found a pebble in my 19 month olds nappy - I wasn't aware she had swallowed it

She usually one has one poo a day, in the morning.

I'm all worried.

WHY would she eat one of those?

She's not done anything like that before.

Oh lol at pyschomum - glad the pebble made its way out.

oooh...something said to me earlier at drama (I was panicking there too), if they can swollow it without choking then they can pass it without incidence!!!

am not saying that with medical knowledge, but it prooved true this evening

I thought he was well past this!!!!

I also thought he was well past the climbing escape artist phase, proven wrong there too as the glass pebbles were up high still from DS2 when tiny, and flameboy now...

ho hum, kids are always doing new stuff to keep us on our toes

ds eats tissues (if he finds them - I have to hide them).

Top tip from NHS Direct (from when my daughter ate a stone).

If she is still in nappies, you need to give the nappy a good squeeze, to feel whether the pebble is buried in the poo. Because they are surprisingly hard to see. So that's something to look forward to!

When DD1 did it, it took about 36 hours to come through. And she was absolutely fine.

The nice lady on NHS Direct also confessed that her teenage daughter once swallowed a ring pull, and came to no harm. Makes my eyes water just thinking about it!

LOL! DS did this. I didn't know until I changed his nappy and found it in there

to make you all feel a teeny bit better...

DD1's best friend apparently ate a proper old fashioned style nappy pin when she was tiny....

I asked her mum if this were true, and yes, t'was true and they even got to keep the xray as proof IIRC...

One of my cousins ate a coin.

Again, they've still got the Xray to prove it.

It took about a week to come out, too.

DS3 had what looked like "snow" in his nappy the other day...........he'd been eating bits of polystyrene that had gone everywhere when I moved H's fishtank from the living room (it had been sat under the tank) I'd been feeling too shite to get the vacuum out and clear it up......thought I'd fished most bits out of his mouth but the nappy proved otherwise

she passed it today.

whew!

had her running about so she got it out.
