Holiday with baby

Not sure if this is the right thread?!

I’m looking for some advice for travelling with a baby! I have DC1 is 3.5 and we have travelled many times with him, DC2 will be 8 months when we travel.

It’s just occurred to me that we will be getting a coach transfer from the airport to hotel, and I’m wondering what others do about this with regards to car seat?

I know I can take one extra item, but I usually take a pushchair with me. Do I sit DC2 on my knee? Do I get a private transfer instead and request car seats? Although I have read that they tend to be poor fitting and not much safer anyway?

DC1 is in an ERF car seat that can’t come out my car and wouldn’t be suitable to take but I could take the baby car seat and seatbelt it in however I don’t know if I would be allowed this alongside the pushchair?

Sorry for the long rambled post but I just wondered what others would do in the situation? 💕

Also, we are going to Egypt so any other tips for travelling with a baby are welcome! I breastfeed so don’t need to worry about that and have bought a snuzshade for the pram but any other advice would be great! 😊

I’ve just sat mine on my knee in the past, but transfers were short

I hadn’t thought to check, it’s only 20 minutes away from the hotel for us

Every flight I have taken you can take 2 extra pieces of 'baby luggage' per child. So you can take a pushchair and a car seat if you want.

Yes you usually get an allowance of 2 baby items, and they apply per child even if one isn't a baby. Check airline policy though.

Do you have something like a Trunki Boostapak as a bare minimum for the 3yo? I would prefer this to nothing personally esp in Egypt, but appreciate many would risk it especially if it's a coach or minibus rather than taxi.

Never took a carseat with me. I know you can take one for free, but it's just an extra item to carry.

You can just sit them on your lap regardless of how long the journey will be.
