Chickenpox...?

Photo is awful sorry - best I could get

DS has these spots on legs and arms. No fever has a stinking cold though.

Chickenpox..?? I'll call the doctors in the morning and keep him off nursery but just a bit of mumsnet opinion? Only on arms and legs. He's otherwise fine (hence the bad picture as having to chase him to get close enough...)

I mean, it could be, but I wouldn't automatically think chicken pox from this picture. I think it's unusual for it to start one the arms and legs (usually face or back/body first). These look quite small and close together? This pic is my daughter's chickenpox when they first broke out.

Ooh, just a thought - scarlet fever? How does it feel? Rough and sandpapery?

AlexisP90 · 26/01/2025 18:52

Yeah im really unsure on chicken pox as they are very clustered and just on arms and legs. Very small too. DS (2.5) said he's not itchy.

They do feel a little rough. Not overly but definitely not completely smooth

Are they just in the elbow and knee creases?

Worsthousebeststreet · 26/01/2025 19:25

Looks more like eczema to me - if it's CP they'll fill with fluid soon and it will be obvious

AlexisP90 · 26/01/2025 19:37

Just noticed some coming up on his back too.

Could be eczema. He did have eczema as a baby but not had anything for about a year and a half and didn't look like this but I know it can manifest in so many ways

Will give the doctors a call in the morning
