He has never slept through the night. I have tried everything - ever since he was born it was 2 hour wake ups. Continued through toddlerhood, hoped when started school it would get better. He is Year 1 now and its kind of improved, he only wakes once, maybe twice but it takes him 2 hours to nod off. We have co-slept since forever, he has his own room and used to start the night off in there but following a bout of illness he is now back starting in my bed. All medical issues ruled out, he has seen ENT and GP, there is a slight suspicion of neurodiversity but too young to tell / go for assessment so far. I need tips on how to get him to go sleep in his room, by himself. I currently sit with him but it's destroying evenings. How can we transition gently? He is a bit anxious sometimes; doesn't like going into rooms alone - he needs me there just to have a wee! He is probably on the low sleep needs end of things, as he drops off around 9-9:30 but Id like him to go into his room from 8pm, listen to stories , read etc but it feels like a pipe dream! Any advice or tips? I have 2 other children that i need to give some attention to at bedtime, and i also need an hour or so to myself or to my dh.
