Newborn and nappy leaks

I have a 9 day old baby boy. He's FF and drinking 2.5-3oz every 3hrs. However in the last few days his nappies have been leaking, sometimes every hour. I've had to change his bed sheets at least 3 times in the last 24hrs.

We have tried pampers, mamia (aldi), little angels (Asda) and lupilu (Lidl). All in size 1 (he weighs approx 7lb 2oz).

I wouldn't say the nappies are overly saturated and possibly more of a fit issue. I ensure he is pointing downwards and frills around legs are out.

Tonight he has refused to settle because he is constantly wet! Any suggestions to help a FTM!!!

Have you tried sizing up the vest? Sometimes if the nappy can’t expand it will leak. You can also get extenders (handy for long babies)

You could try sizing up on the nappies too. Don’t always go by the weight guide on the pack as they don’t take into account build

We used Aldi birth to about 13.5 weeks then we started leaking as you described. We’ve gone to pampers premium protect size 2 and 2 leaks in 3.5 weeks

Sadly it’s a trial and error game and doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be on the same brand as they grow

@BC2603 thank you for your suggestions.

Vest definitely has room to expand.

I have some mamia and Asda nappies in size 2 which i could also try!

Given them a try. Sainsbury’s were also recommended to me when we were having leaks but they didn’t work for us. We’ve ended up with so many opened and barely used bags of nappies 😂 Between those and sorting out which formula worked best for our LB it’s been great fun.

Where is it leaking? Out the legs? Have a look at how it fits after it's leaked. Both mine we actually had to size down on nappies compared to the weight guidelines, and the clue was that once the nappy expanded a bit, the fit on the legs was loose...so of course the next wee leaked out.
