DS 9 months not eating

My DS who is almost 9 months has been refusing almost all food and milk since Thursday. He was eating almost 3 meals per day and having about 24oz of formula.

Since Thursday he’s had less than 10oz each day and not much food. Hes had dirty nappies but they’re not heavy.

I thought it could be teething as he doesn’t have any teeth yet but can’t really see in his mouth. He’s been unsettled and not sleeping well but no fever.

How long before you would get advice from a gp? I feel like I’m always at the doctor with him!

Less than 50% normal fluid intake over 3-4 feeds along with an unhappy baby is something your GP would want to see you for, if only to rule out certain infections like RSV. Just keep an eye on your baby overnight, you know them best & if you're worried, call 111 etc.

That said - it could well be teething, my baby is almost the same age as as yours, has two bottom teeth and seems to be working on a third already 😔 Can you pop your finger in their mouth and feel anything along the bottom gum?

I sympathise with the back and forth to the GP situation, September - November was like that for me :/

I would ring the GP tomorrow.

Have you tried giving nurofen 30 mins before feeding and anbesol liquid just before?

I’ve been giving nurofen but he’s still not happy feeding. Today he’s had some porridge and banana, about 12oz of formula and a little bit of toast dinner plus a yoghurt which he would only eat from my finger!

He’s already very small (1st centile) so I worry when he has a few days with no food!
